Parasites

Computer parasites are undesired applications that are intended to harm your PC in one way or another. Long gone are days when such applications were done by nerds in the basements, today it is a multi-million dollar industry. Thus it is harder and harder to protect your PC from spyware.

Computer parasites include

Adware (4) - applications that show unsolicited advertisements on your PC thus clogging your screen, network bandwidth, performance. Additionally, shown ads are unsuitable to minors often as they might include porn scenes or gambling sites.
Trojan (3) - a parasites that come with other shareware or freeware programs, by mail or even in infected websites. You will not see them much, but they will download additional malware and protect them from uninstalling.
Computer Worms - a common type of computer malware that is spread by scanning network and websites for various vulnerabilities, be it USB flash drives, hard drives or holes in network applications on other PCs. They tend to use up network bandwidth and slow down your PC in general. Also, they rarely travel alone without Trojans.
Rogue Anti-Spyware (461) - a fake security programs that are created by corrupt crooks. These programs are not to be trusted! They are either promoted by computer parasites or by corrupt websites by faking an infection on your PC and then pushing products to get into your pockets.
Rootkits (1) - a small, but dangerous class of computer parasites that are created for helping hiding other malware, usually trojans. They dig deep into computer OS and are very hard to remove.
Browser Hijacker (2) - a type of adware that messes with your browser settings. It forces you to visit the sites they want and promote, so you would pay their bills. Usually this leads to additional PC infections
Generic Malware (2) - this is for other, less common infections that can’t be exactly categorized or are not so common.
