Desktop Defender 2010

Information about Desktop Defender 2010

Desktop Defender 2010 is a rogue anti-spyware program, which essentially means it's a fake and malicious spyware remover. This parasite seems to be a clone of such outdated rogues as Contraviro and Unvirex, which were popular a few years back. Desktop Defender 2010 usually enters the system by using downloader trojans or drive-by downloads, and relies on misleading advertising to trick users into purchasing it's "licensed version".

Desktop Defender 2010 is capable of doing a lot of things to your system, and none of them involve anything nice. Desktop Defender 2010 floods the system with popups, (falsely) claiming it is infected and in need of a security program. It performs fake system scans, which mark harmless files as threats, just so it can then sell it's "full version" to users who believe the message that the removal of these "threats" is only possible using this useless program. Desktop Defender 2010 might hijack the browser and block certain websites, particularly those that could potentially help the user remove this parasite. This isn't all however: Desktop Defender 2010 also blocks many security programs and system applications from running in order to protect itself.

Desktop Defender 2010 is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and remove it immediatelly upon detection.
